We are writing this on our way up to Prague for the Zizkov game on Sunday morning. Well, what can you say about the opening to the spring season? We are currently 3 games in and we’re unbeaten under new manager, Martin Pulpit, we’ve scored 4 goals and Pavel Halouska is yet to concede a goal. Now, although we sit precariously above the relegation our current form is definitely promotion form..and long may it continue.

One noticeable improvement is in defence, something Pan Pulpit is well known for. He’s not only worked on the back 4 protecting Pavel’s goal, but also you can see the midfield dropping back to help out when needed. In the 2-0 win over Varnsdorf, our new French midfield Davy and Martin Vlachovsky spent most of the second half helping Martin Sedlo and Ondrej Sukup out and you know how much it benefited the team. We limited Varnsdorf to a handful of chances. Klobouk dolu, kluci.

Google Endor’s “Pump it up” and you’ve got our Martin Pulpit song for the rest of the season. (Thanks to the boys from Zbrojovkast for giving us the idea)

An international feel to the Blansko line-up

The Winter break saw a host of trialists and returnees to our squad. We’re so pleased to see Martin Sedlo back at the club, our free-scoring left-back has started every game under Pulpit and naturally in his first game scored the winner against Trinec.. “Oh Sedlo, Oh Sedlo, running down the wing”.

Davy and Tarek Aggoun have signed their first professional contracts and joined us from France. Davy’s a quick winger with a trick or two in him and our corner kicks have definitely become more dangerous since he’s been involved. Tarek plays at the heart of our defence and looks like a “no nonsense” player.. Quick to hit the ball into row Z if needed.

The one player, we have all been looking forward to seeing is Martin Vlachovsky who netted the first goal in the win over Varnsdorf with a wonderful free kick.. He was certainly my man of the match, working hard to create chances down our right-hand side..A Pulpit player if there ever was one.

Claude Lhotecky and Jakub Cernin are beginning to see more game time, Claude ran hard up front to create chances for himself and Kuba being used as defender/makeshift attacker. Both of them contributing to our great start to the season.

Tomas Machalek also looks a great addition to our front line – we’ve been so impressed with his work rate, chasing down balls, defending from the front.. He deserves a goal or six and we’re sure his effort will start to pay off soon.

Serb Dejan Koraksic is someone we haven’t seen much of at all, but if you can find any YouTube clips of his time back home, you’ll see he’s not afraid to tackle… We might be up on the yellow card count at the end of the season.

We’ll finish this section with a big “klobouk dolu” to everyone who has played a part in our wonderful start to 2021. We just wish we could see more of you.

The Blansko fans behind the fence

Sadly, with the current situation the FNL has been able to see the best of the people of Blansko. However, the pandemic hasn’t stopped a 100 or so fans from showing their love for the club.

The support of the boys and girls behind the fence has been exceptional and we’re sure it’s a huge boost to the players when they hear the singing and chanting. If anyone deserves a FNL team for next season, it’s them – no matter what the weather, they are there at every match and we hope we’re all together next season supporting the boys.

Is he or isn’t he?

We’re still not quite sure what has happened as there hasn’t been any official word from the club, but after years of financial and emotional support, it seems Oldrich Merta is no longer involved in the club. Just from a personal point of view and not the view of the club, Oldrich has helped oversee the most successful period in Blansko’s history. The Divize D championship, The MSFL win, the huge crowds and just the entertainment on the pitch has made it an absolute pleasure to watch football in Blansko over the past few years. If it is goodbye, it’s a “thank you” from us and we hope our paths cross again in the future.

So, that’s it from us for the time-being. As always, stay safe, there is light at the end of the tunnel. FORZA BLANSKO!
