Perhaps, given the comings and goings at FK Blansko in the past 4 years, the club should adopt “Changes” by David Bowie as our new anthem. Another season has just started and we have a completely new team and coaching team.

Of course, before we talk about this season, we should say a massive “thank you” to everyone involved in our one and only season as a professional club. The greatest testament to the efforts the boys put in is that nearly all of them have continued in professional football. It was a huge rollercoaster of a season and for so many to stay on right until the end was appreciated by all supporters. As a show of gratitude, we had our first ever “Player of the Season” which was won by Filip Žák, now of Prostějov, with Mladá Boleslav’s Pavel Halouska.. If the truth be told we could well have given out two trophies.

Onto this season and it took a long time for the club to communicate which league we would be playing in, who our new manager was and when we would be playing friendlies, but we got the right information in the end. Going from being a professional club to amateur again has meant that finances are understandably tight, but every single supporter deserves to be kept updated and we hope the relevant people at the club learn a valuable lesson in how important we all are for the future of FK Blansko. Working together is definitely the way forward and hopefully with time this will happen.

Myself and Wingy turned up at our second friendly of the season against Vrchovina in Nové Město, more to see the trialists and our new players. On a sun-drenched afternoon in Vysočina we watched an entertaining 3-3 draw and left the ground at full-time with that feeling, you know, we are going to be okay this season. What pleased us most was the return of David Záleský, Marcel Hladký and Jiří Tulajdan and to see Tomáš Feik, Marek Mach, captain Machálek and Štěpán Alexa continuing the good work of last season. And of course, Blansko just wasn’t the same with Saša the physio, so to see him and his slivovice return to Údolni is almost like Christmas coming early.

Usually at the beginning of each season, we’re ever the optimists in predicting promotion by April and we’re all in Croatia at the beginning of May. This season we’ll be happy to consolidate and finish mid-table in the MSFL, however, we must say the team has given us hope. The first game didn’t quite go the way we wanted, but all you can ever ask of the players is to give their all and this is quite clearly happening. Since that defeat, we’ve won at Jihlava, turned TJ Start over in the cup and won impressively at home against Dolní Benešov... We’ve been impressed by Lamine Fall’s “Beckenbauer” runs from defence and the obvious talent of 18year old Štěpán Alexa... More of the same please boys.

Finally, the return to Údolni has been the best present any Blansko supporter could have asked for. The return of Černa Hora on tap, the vista from the main stand and just to be at home. Let’s hope we never return to the other “stadium” again.

Oh… and as I am writing this, it’s just been announced that we’ve drawn FORTUNA:LIGA FC Fastav Zlin in the next round of the cup… A chance for the big boys to see our glorious stadium and for Blansko fans to enjoy a great day out.

Until next time….. FORZA BLANSKO!!
